Sarasota Fishing Report

Fishing Report For January 2024

Given the unpredictable weather patterns, flexibility with timing is crucial, trusting your captain—who's on the water daily—to make last-minute decisions about when to embark on each day's outing. During this season, I reserve the entire day for my clients, allowing us to set sail when weather and tide conditions are optimal. With a flexible schedule, we can transform a day like today, which was forecasted for 40-60% showers by the Weather Channel, into one of the most successful fishing experiences we've had this year. Trust your captain over the forecast!

Sarasota Fishing Report for April:

April is a great time for fishing in Sarasota, with plenty of opportunities to catch a variety of species. The weather is mild, and the water is warming up, making it an ideal time to get out on the water. Here's what you can expect when fishing in Sarasota in April.

Inshore fishing in Sarasota is great in April, with plenty of opportunities to catch snook, redfish, and trout. These species are beginning to move out of their winter patterns and are becoming more active in the shallow flats and backwaters. Live bait, such as shrimp or pinfish, is the best option for targeting these species.

Here are some tips for fishing in Sarasota in April:

Pay attention to the tides: The tide plays a big role in fishing success. Look for moving water around structure, such as mangroves or oyster bars.

Use live bait: Live bait is the best option for targeting inshore species, such as snook and redfish. Shrimp or pinfish are great options.

Keep an eye out for birds: Birds can lead you to schools of baitfish, which in turn can attract larger predatory fish.

Check the weather: The weather can change quickly in Florida. Check the forecast before heading out on the water, and be prepared for changes in wind and rain.
